The Stix are expanding north and have designated Hunter Lockwood as the Stix North Director. North will be comprised of teams from Denton & Collin County and surrounding areas and will practice at Denton Guyer High School.

A DFW native, Hunter was born in Bedford and attended LD Bell High School. A longtime member of the Stix family, he began playing for the Stix at 14 years old and continued through his senior year. Hunter brings deep experience as an instructor, coach and player – at all levels of the game.

Catcher and designated hitter, Hunter was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB Draft but chose to attend college instead. Hunter was a catcher and corner infielder for the University of Oklahoma in 2011-2012 and attend Weatherford College in the Spring of 2013. In 2013, he was drafted again in the 11th round by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Hunter is an excellent coach and an ideal choice for director. When asked about his philosophy, Hunter said “I aim to give back to the game that has given so much to me. I want to be positive and motivate athletes while helping them improve their physical and mental game.”

Since announcing the new location in July 2018, three teams have formed – 2020, 2021 and 2023 We are looking forward to seeing what Hunter Lockwood can do in the Denton area!
